DISCUSSION:

Ask your children to open the Quran and turn to Surah Qasas and read the story of Musa (AS).

Tell them: "When Allah tells us to do something, we have to obey. Allah told Musa to grab the snake. That is a very dangerous thing to do because the snake could bite you.

But, in Musa's (AS) case, it was different. Allah was testing him to see if he was going to obey Him or not. Of course, Musa obeyed him right away, without hesitation. We have to do the same when Allah orders us to do something, like pray five times a day. Allah was also training Musa to be brave.

Ask them: "What did Allah tell Musa (AS) to calm him down from the slithering snake?"

Listen to their answers, then tell them to find what Allah told Musa in Ayah 31

Allah reassured him by saying, "Come back and don't be scared. You are perfectly safe."

Discuss how some techniques you can do and duas you can say when you have to face your fears.

First, you put your trust in Allah,

then you take a breath and muster up your courage.

Share an incident with them about yourself, especially a story from your childhood, and how you faced your fear.

It could be something like you were afraid of the dark, but you read Ayat-ul Kursi the 3 Quls and blew on yourself before sleeping. Then you didn't have nightmares after that. Allow them to share their experiences.

Or how your first day of school as a young child made you feel.

Children relate with stories. When sharing your story, be authentic and tell it how you remember it. Children will be engaged with the authenticity of the story and will disconnect with exaggerated version.
