Help Scarborough Homeschoolers build a safe library space
Goal: $3000 Raised: 74% Left: 11 days
We are building a community library specially curated for Muslim Homeschoolers. This volunteer-led project aims to empower Scarborough homeschoolers with quality educational resources needed for their homeschooling journey.
Purpose
The Homeschool Library Initiative is designed to support our 100 homeschooling families with a physical organized access to quality educational materials for children aged 0 to 12 years. This includes physical books, curriculum resources, and digital tools. The library promotes independent learning, early literacy development, and a love of reading in a structured, community-supported environment.
A key focus of the library is to provide books and resources that are carefully selected to align with Islamic morals and principles, fostering character development, respectful behavior, and ethical thinking in young learners. Most importantly, not only will the library provide a safe space to mothers with young children, it will also provide the families peace of mind knowing their children are reading pre-approved materials.
Your donations will:
Curate and purchase high-quality books and resources that are educational, engaging, and faith-affirming
Create and print hands-on activity kits aligned with Islamic character and ethics
Offer these resources for free or low cost to families in need
Build an online portal so more families across Canada can access the library
Whether you're a parent, educator, or simply someone who believes in nurturing strong, grounded youth, your support matters.
🕌 Donate today and be part of raising the next generation with purpose, knowledge, and faith.
The Prophet ﷺ said ( paraphrased):
"The best of people are those that bring the most benefit to others."
Goals
1) Provide a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books appropriate for children aged 0–12.
2) Offer curriculum-aligned resources that can support homeschooling families across multiple subjects.
3) Ensure all materials reflect and reinforce Islamic values and principles.
4) Create a self-serve system for our members that allows for easy borrowing while maintaining clear accountability.
5) Provide academic support provided by qualified educators in subjects of Language Arts, Math, STEM, Arts and Public Speaking.
What are we fundraising for?
We have rented a unit which needs flooring, roofing and a counter space. We also need basic furniture to setup a warm and cozy space for families. All this is estimated to cost us $2000 (contractor quote).
We also aim to provide two computer stations for children and mothers to work or study in the library.
Who Can Access Our Volunteer Library?
Our library welcomes all families who share our commitment to fostering good morals, positive values, and strong character in children.
Membership is available to families whose values align with our mission of nurturing kindness, empathy, honesty, and integrity through quality books and resources, mostly created, written and/or published by our community moms!
How Do I Become a Member?
We offer a range of membership options through Scarborough Homeschooling Moms and Zalik Academy. More details and registration can be found on our website. Some as low as $20 per family!
All members agree to follow our library rules and sign a simple liability waiver for any lost or damaged items.
Membership for homeschoolers not part of our co-op will open in January 2026, In shaa Allaah
